Welcome to Badgerys Creek Wildlife Sanctuary

Located 1km above sea level in the remote southern mountain ranges of New South Wales Australia, where we rescue, rehabilitate and care for injured and orphaned native wildlife.

Surrounded by State forest and National park, the sanctuary was established in 2015 to care for injured and orphaned wildlife - primarily kangaroos and wallabies.

Mikeys back!

We are so happy. After almost a year, Mikey has returned for a visit.

He was released with 2 other males, Ofrey and Sven last year after coming here as an injured joey in 2020. We were not sure if he was still alive, as many don't make it. He's in great health and so strong and wild. We hope he stays around for a while to teach the younger males here to be strong and survive.

Life can be short for male kangaroos

During the black summer bushfires of 2019-20, 3 out of control bushfires destroyed the sanctuary.
We stayed to defend and protect the animals, however we were forced to evacuate when the fires became too hot to survive.
We returned 2 days later and began rescuing and treating the survivors.

Despite this setback, we will continue to do what we can to help our wildlife and have started the long process of rebuilding the sanctuary with the help from generous people who care about Australia's unique wildlife.

Whilst every February 1st will always be a sad day for us, we get so much happiness knowing the survivors of those terrible fires are living free and happy lives now - some have joeys too.

HUHA New Zealand, with their team of volunteers, crossed the Tasman and arrived at our sanctuary to help save the survivors of the devastating black summer bushfires. HUHA helped us and the survivors of the fires here when no one else would - we will always be grateful.

Here is a short video of the help HUHA provided us and the affects bushfires have on our wildlife and their habitat.
